Blues at Costanera Sur

Chance encounters.  I had been trudging through the San Telmo market for a couple of hours in the oppressive heat, when I decided to get a gelato, sit on the sidewalk and watch the street performers.  I struck up a conversation with the guy sitting next to me, who happened to be this really nice guy from Israel who´s been traveling for 5 months.  In typical travel fashion, we wandered and chatted the rest of the afternoon and then made our way to the Ecological Reserve/Costanera Sur, a park just across the river, where we stumbled upon an outdoors evening concert that was going to start in an hour.  What luck! After eating the best hot dog ever (here they have a dozen different salsas to put on your dog-- from chimichurri sauce to chopped cabbage and tomatoes to marinated onions) we made our way to the concert.  It was blues night, which was ironic, since I´ve traveled halfway across the world to listen to blues (mostly in Spanish) and see a Warhol exhibit.

It was so awesome! Warm night, great music outdoors. As we were dancing under the stars, I remembered that this trip is actually going to be fun. Not just in the "interesting to see new places," "growth experience," and "learn so much about yourself" kind of way, but in just the purest sense of simple fun!
