My One-Month Travel Anniversary

Yesterday was the one-month anniversary marking the start of my travels in South America.  The time has just flown by in that same way that I can´t believe that I´ve already worked at EBCLC for seven years or lived for thirty-five years.  Before I left, one of my co-workers warned me that I would get bored just traveling around, but I think he underestimated my capacity to do absolutely nothing productive for long periods of time.  Someone else told me that this trip would be completely life changing.  Hmmm...  I´m having a good time, but maybe that perspective is gained only in retrospect.

In terms of productivity, I do think my Spanish is getting better. I´m picking up the normal life vocabulary that I´ve been sorely lacking after so many years of talking to clients about criminal expungements, deportations, hearings, evidence, and bonds. I am proud to say that on the bus ride to Mendoza from Bariloche, I watched a Brazilian movie in Portuguese with Spanish subtitles and understood all of it!

PHOTO NOTE:  I went back and added photos to my blog entries from the trip.  Strangely enough, I feel like I write differently knowing that I can add photos.  It´s like shortcut or crutch of sorts.  Since a picture is worth a thousand words, does it mean I should have to write less?

  1. Wow -- the photos are amazing! But so is your writing, so keep posting both.
I can't believe you've actually been gone a month already -- time has flown by here as well.
    Enjoy!!
