Missing Mountains

For the first time in my trip, I am leaving places before I feel ready to.

Right now I am in Lençois, the closest town to Parque Nacional Chapada dos Diamantinas. After so much beach, I've been missing mountains. And oh, having only one full day here is just teasing me. It is so beautiful here.  Long valleys and happy waterfalls.  To stretch my legs again after being pampered for the last week with big meals and chauffers...

Margaret and I decided to do different excursions because I wanted to do a longer hike instead of visiting more places but with more time in a car. Apparently, longer hikes are not as popular, and since it´s low season it was hard to find enough people to form a group to go out. After checking out almost every travel agency in town, I found one that had a few people going to Cachoiera Fumaça, a 14 km hike to the longest waterfall in Brazil, followed by a dip in a waterfall during sunset.

I don't wonder why mountains are sacred places in many cultures.
