Some Favorite Things

Thinking back on my trip, these are a few of my favorite things from each country I visited:

Israel
  • So much good Middle Eastern food!
  • Falafel
  • Hummus and hummus restaurants
  • Fantastic creative salads
  • Sheesha
  • Everyone honking at you when your car doesn’t start going before the stoplight turns green again (just kidding)
Spain

  • Jamon Iberico, jamon Iberico, and more jamon iberico. The stuff just melts in your mouth!
  • Dark Chocolate and Orange Digestive cookies
  • Blablacar
  • Cheap and fashionable clothes in trendy stores
  • Stores that open late… I love night shopping

  • Morocco
    • Juices- fresh squeezed OJ, avocado au lait
    • A ground fig and almond mixture that tastes delicious with yoghurt
    • Tagines
    • Berber Omelettes (The cat often comes with the meal in Morocco)

    • Moroccan Salad with Sardines (red onions, tomatoes, and sardines flavored with cumin and salt. Surprisingly delicious)

    Ethiopia

      • Fruit juices- When you order a fruit juice, instead of mixing all of the juices together, they layer them, so your glass is a pretty rainbow of colors.  You can decide which layers to mix or drink each layer separately. I like drinking each layer separately except for the avocado, which tastes better mixed
      • Fruit salads- There are all of these little shops that sell only fruit juices and fruit salads. The fruit salads were my favorite for breakfast.
      • Tibs- Diced morsels of roasted meat
      • Bumping shoulders in greeting
      • Shoulder dancing- Man, they can move body parts in a way I never thought possible! Everyone was mostly sitting for the song I filmed, so this one was pretty tame. But it got pretty crazy in there! And as you can see, they start learning young :)

      Tanzania

      • The thousands of ways people greet each other. After a month, people would still greet me in ways that I didn't know how to respond to
      • Samosas
      • Cashews
      • How quiet children are- I never heard a child cry or throw a tantrum
