Day Two: Thorsmork Nature Reserve and Sejalandfoss

Today we had a short driving today, just about 20 minutes from Hvollsvollur, where we were staying, to Seijalandfoss where we took the bus to Thorsmork Nature Reserve.  There are only three buses there and three buses back, so we decided to take the 10:45 a.m. bus there and the 4:00 p.m. bus back. It was a perfect amount of time to spend there.

The bus crossed over half a dozen streams and rivers, some quite deep and strong. Along the way, the buses  picked up drivers in cars that couldn't cross the deeper streams. After an hour, we arrived at Volcano Huts. After a picnic lunch, we did a two-hour hike following the green/white, white, then blue posts. The hike took us up a hill with an amazing 360 degree view of the valley we drove up and two glaciers.

I've definitely noticed that sunshine turns an okay scenery into a breathtaking landscape. Unfortunately, the weather in Iceland is pretty unpredictable and the sunshine has been fleeting. But when the sun does come out, it's amazing.

The window must have been very clean because these are the best "through a bus window" photos that I've ever taken

We had visited Seijalandfoss in the morning before our bus, but a few of us wanted to go back, so we dropped everyone else off and headed back. And we were lucky enough this second time to find some sunshine!

Well, some bursts of sunshine at least. One of the amazing things about this waterfall is being able to go behind it. You feel the mist and thundering all around.
